Small household repairs
Whether you are a small local business, a local resident, or an occasional visiting home owner, little things break, toilets, sinks and taps, lights and bulbs, shutters and door locks, cupboard doors, door bells and,,,,,,the list goes on.
Wouldn''t it be nice to pick up the telephone and speak to someone who actually knows and understands what you are asking about, and can help you with an answer, it would be even nicer if they can tell you somebody will call soon, and that you will not be overcharged and can afford the repair. A breath of fresh air, in these troubled financial times.
Many companies seem reluctant to take on the small jobs, small repairs and breakages, the sort of thing that will not ruin your day, but will niggle away and annoy you, and remember that if the property is being rented, they may not be happy to put up with those niggling problems, which is when you start to get complaints. At Seabreeze and Blue Sky we are more than happy to deal with these small problems for you, there are very few jobs which arise that we don''t cover ourselves, but we can arrange somebody for you in those cases if you wish, we have reliable trusted contacts with whom we work, after checking out the problem for you.
Toilets are a constant problem, they seem to either suddenly start to run continuously or they jam inside and just will not flush, you either pay a small fortune for the lost water (not to mention the environmental effect) or you find yourself in an embarrassing and unhygienic mess, quite literally sometimes. Another favourite of course is the "Loo blue" stuck down the toilet, this has been seen to reduce a toilet to many, many, small but unnecessary parts by an owner in order to retrieve the offending article and unblock the toilet, resulting in a major re - build before removal.
Sinks and taps leak, it seems to be inherent in their design; the only time they stop leaking is when they won''t let water out, at all. Let us not forget that sinks and taps love to work loose and wobble, a lot sometimes, till they fall off. Not everybody has the right tools for the job, and why should they?, after all it is meant to be a holiday home, not every body wishes to squeeze into a cupboard under the sink and practice the sort of dexterity normally reserved for people with double joints to make the necessary repairs, we will.
Mention the word "shutter" or "persiana" in Spanish, and most people shudder, especially home owners, sales people, rental managers, people in long term rentals, and holiday makers, in fact just about everyone. The problem is, that we also all of us so dearly love them too, enjoying the peace and quiet and shade they bring to hot summer mornings especially. They do have a tendency to break down though, manual and electric, which leaves you permanently in the dark, or reaching for sunglasses at 5am sometimes, leave it with us, it''s no problem, a word of caution however, as untold damage is done every year by over zealous D.I.Y. and people trying to force things, if it breaks, leave it, call us, don''t yank it.
Unless you are an electrician or own a chain of lighting stores you will probably not know what sort of "bulb" or fitting you need to replace the three that are now out above your head, because you have left it a while. Descriptions like "big and round" "long and thin" "tiny little thing" do not impress our local shop owners; though they do try so hard to help, this is made doubly funny if you speak no Spanish at all. Not all retailers have the specialist type you need, even if you do know how to take the lamp apart, remove the old one without risk of electric shock, climb down off the stack of tables and stools because you have no steps, and take what''s left to them to look at. It is generally considered wiser to pick up the telephone and call us; we''ll be done when you come back from the pool.
The list is endless, window and glass replacement, wardrobe doors and cupboards, loose kitchen doors and missing plaster from the side of a door frame, hot water boilers and broken dishwashers, etc. etc. If you have a maintenance problem call Seabreeze and Blue Sky, ask and we will try to help.
