Painting and Decorating
Anybody can paint! That''s what we hear time and again, but it''s not true.
Anybody can buy a tin of cheap paint and haphazardly throw it on the wall, in some cases you ask yourself if people should have done it after drinking so much though.
The reality is that you only have a professional job if you hire professional people, as with most things there is a lot more to it than you think. What sort of paint, how many litres, what colours are available, which room suits what colour and why? These are your first questions, then, are there any damp walls, does it need treating, what sort of base is the new paint going on, and how many coats will it take. Are you going to fill the holes in the wall, and are you moving the side board? Are you afraid of hights, many properties have high stair ways, which need very long ladders, oh and don''t look over the balcony. If by now you are a bit bewildered, then now you know some of the factors taken into consideration when you ask us to quote, the list is endless.
You don''t need to come on holiday and waste a week painting your apartment, (longer for a villa,) and hope it looks well afterwards, and if you live in your apartment, can you afford a week off work to paint? It doesn''t cost the Earth to have Seabreeze and Blue Sky come in to advise you, and then paint through the house properly ready for your arrival so you can enjoy your holiday. Professional does not mean expensive, it means that you receive the quality you expect, the furniture will be moved, not painted around (seen with our own eyes) and you won''t spend two weeks cleaning paint off doors, furniture and floors, and all done at a sensible affordable price.
Mould and damp are a continuous ongoing problem in Spain, the climate is generally warm/hot, the nights and winters can by comparison be quite cool, and when it rains, it rains. This causes damp in walls, floors and ceilings, which regular inspection should bring to light early. The first task, when you know where it is coming from is to treat the cause if possible, and then the effects, a good treatment for the mould that has formed and also for the soft plaster work, then it might be possible to paint.
Outside is totally different, how long the paint lasts is dependent upon the quality of the paint you use, even more than the inside, and that does not necessarily mean the most expensive, and different types of wall suit different types of paint, especially where extra damp proofing is required, or for pools and spa''s. Wood brings up an even more bewildering array of different varnish, paint, stains and colours, choosing the right one for the job is really important, as is how well it is put on, miss half the coverage and watch your wood disintegrate to sawdust, from where the water got in. Rejas or the metal window bars, and other metal items like garage doors and railings finish off the list of possible paints and coverings to be found in your average D.I.Y. store.
Now you understand the importance of having professionals, we know what you need, you choose the colours, and it''s very easy and affordable that way.
